School bus carrying 30 students crashes into home near Ohio-Indiana border

COLLEGE CORNER, Ohio (WXIX/Gray News) - A school bus carrying 30 students crashed into a home near the Ohio-Indiana state line early Monday, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office and Indiana State Police.

The bus driver, 55-year-old Steven Posco, went into cardiac arrest while driving and hit a home in West College Corner, Indiana, the Union County Sheriff’s Office said.

First responders arrived at the crash to find Posco unconscious as the bus was pinned under the home’s porch, Union County Sheriff’s Office explained. The Butler County Sheriff’s Office said the home sustained extensive damage.

CPR was performed on Posco, and he was taken to the hospital. His current condition is unknown.

Two of the 30 students, who are middle and high schoolers, were taken to the hospital for evaluation before being released, the Union County Sheriff’s Office said.

The rest of the students were taken to a nearby church, where they were picked up by their parents.

The bus belongs to Union County College Corner Joint School District in Union County, Indiana.

One person was at home at the time of the crash, but he was working in the backyard and was not hurt, the fire chief said.

Indiana State Police is assisting the Union County Sheriff’s Office as they investigate, said Sgt. Scott Keegan, Indiana State Police spokesman.

Authorities had earlier reported that 32 students were on the bus at the time of the crash.
