RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Grab your cowboy hats and boots because the countdown for the 2024 Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo is officially over.

While the stock show is only one week, starting Friday, the benefits of the event can be felt all year long for the agriculture industry.

Ranchers from across the Midwest head to Rapid City to participate in days of livestock sales and shows.

The Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo also teaches people about the number one industry in South Dakota, agriculture.

“If you go into the ice arena this year FFA (Future Farmers of America) will be showing an ag education display. Great opportunity for people, not just kids but adults, to come in and learn about agriculture. We do that at the Central States Fair and the Black Hills Stock Show to try to get more education to the urban people about how agriculture impacts all of us in our daily lives,” said Ron Jeffries, general manager for the Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo.

The Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo will feature more than 400 vendors for people to shop.
