RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - The Rapid City Police Department came to a call for a report of a hit-and-run on 1200 E. Saint Patrick Street in the parking lot, on Feb. 4

Police arrived and found a parked pickup truck with damage from a recent collision. Witnesses state the pickup was reportedly struck by a white sedan before the sedan left the scene.

Around the same time, police reportedly observed a white sedan fail to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Elm Ave and E. Saint Patrick Street. The police pulled over the sedan for a traffic violation.

The police made contact with the driver, identified as Brandon Decker, 39, of Rapid City. The officer reported a strong smell of alcohol, and burnt marijuana, coming from the car. Decker was asked to step out of the car, and police alleged he could not stand without holding onto the car.

Following a DUI investigation, Decker was reported as being too impaired to safely operate a motor vehicle. Police allegedly found marijuana on his person, along with a reported glass pipe inside the car.

Court records indicate Decker was charged with 2nd offense DUI, failure to stop at an accident, failure to stop at an intersection and no insurance.

Decker was then transported to Pennington County Jail.
