Man wins $1 million from scratch-off ticket given as Valentine’s Day gift by mom
TYNGSBOROUGH, Mass. (WGGB/Gray News) – A man in Massachusetts has one million reasons to thank his mother for her Valentine’s Day gift.
According to the Massachusetts Lottery, Matthew Broadley received a Valentine’s Day card which contained two scratch-off tickets from his mother on Tuesday.
Later that day, Broadley scratched one of the tickets, a “$4,000,000 Jumbo Cash” ticket, revealing a $1 million prize.
Broadley chose to take the prize in a one-time payment of $650,000 before taxes. He said, “Thanks, mom” when he picked up his prize on Wednesday, according to lottery officials.
The Lottery said Broadley did not have any immediate plans for his winnings.
The Tyngsborough store that sold the winning ticket will reportedly receive a $10,000 bonus.
