2 dead in shooting at Colorado university; campus remains closed for the day
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV/Gray News) - Two people are dead following a shooting at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs that placed the campus on lockdown Friday morning.
The campus went on lockdown after police responded to reports of shots fired at about 6 a.m., according to authorities.
Police provided an update later in the morning, reporting that they had found two people dead inside a dorm on campus and are investigating their deaths as a homicide. Further details into the investigation, including the circumstances surrounding the shooting or if everyone involved is accounted for.
Police did say there is no known threat to the community and this is believed to be an isolated incident.
The lockdown on campus has since been lifted. The university said the campus will remain closed for the remainder of the day.
Counseling services will be offered for staff and students.
