KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV/Gray News) - Two adults have been charged with murder in connection to a fatal shooting following the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade.

Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a Kansas City DJ and mother of two, was killed in the shooting. Twenty-two others were injured, their ages ranging from 8 to 47 years old, according to police Chief Stacey Graves.

Lyndell Mays, 23, and Dominic Miller, 18, were both charged with second-degree murder, as well as two counts of unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action, according to Jackson County prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.

Both Mays and Miller have been hospitalized since the shooting, Peters Baker reported.

According to Peters Baker, the shooting stemmed from an argument that occurred during the Chiefs’ celebratory rally. She said it is believed Mays was the first to pull out a gun, and then several others, including Miller, also pulled out firearms.

She said it was Miller’s gun that fired the bullet that struck and killed Lopez-Galvan.

The family of Lopez-Galvan released the following statement on Tuesday in light of the new charges:

“On behalf of the Lopez-Galvan family, we are grateful to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office led by Jean Peters Baker and her amazing team of highly experienced and dedicated prosecutors. We also want to thank the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department and all other law enforcement departments involved in this investigation. The effort and dedicated hours spent to expeditiously investigate this senseless act of violence is extremely commendable. It is reassuring for our family and the entire community to know that this joint team effort has resulted in the identification of the suspects involved. Though it does not bring back our beloved Lisa, it is comforting to know that the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office and the KCPD made it a top priority to seek justice for Lisa, the other shooting victims, those who had to witness this tragedy unfold and the Kansas City community.”

The charges come as two teenagers already face gun-related charges as well as resisting arrest in connection to the shooting. The Associated Press reported more charges are possible.

Anyone who may have suffered injury as a result of the shooting, whether they were trampled, sprained an ankle, or were shot, has been asked to come forward and call 816-234-5043.

The FBI has established a webpage for people who would like to submit photos or videos.

The bonds for Mays and Miller have been set at $1 million. Peters Baker said there was an active security presence at the hospital while those suspects remained in medical care.
