Couple says ‘I do’ inside men’s bathroom at gas station
VERONA, Ky. (WXIX/Gray News) - A gas station bathroom turned into a wedding venue for a couple as they exchanged their “I dos.”
Tiana and Logen Abney knew the men’s bathroom inside the HOP Shops in Verona, Kentucky, was the perfect wedding venue for them.
“I wanted something a little different,” explained Tiana Abney. “Didn’t want to just get married in a typical chapel, or you know, go to the church. I wanted something fun to tell my kids. Something fun. A good experience.”
That is when Tiana Abney, a HOP Shops employee, had a crazy idea.
“She was like, ‘The HOP Shop at the HOP Shop,’ and I was like, ‘That doesn’t seem too bad,’ and she’s like, ‘The bathroom,’ and I’m like, ‘That’s kind of cool too,’” Logen Abney recalled.
Now, the HOP Shops do not have just any old ordinary bathroom. With the push of a button, it transforms into a disco-centric scene.
“They got a button in every HOP Shop. You push it, the disco lights come on and the music plays,” Tiana Abney explained.
That feature was enough for Logen Abney to get on board.
“I always heard it don’t matter where you get married at. It’s just the person you’re with,” Logen Abney said.
Surrounded by family, friends, coworkers and customers, 23-year-old Tiana Abney walked down the slushy aisle on Valentine’s Day.
“Seeing her in her wedding dress, she looked beautiful,” said Logen Abney. “It was just an emotional day.”
By the power vested through the state of Kentucky, HOP Shops employee David Biery pronounced the couple husband and wife.
Right after Logen and Tiana Abney had their first kiss as husband and wife, the lights turned off and the disco lights came on as the couple shared their first dance to “Forever and Ever, Amen,” by Randy Travis.
