ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV/Gray News) - A 16-year-old girl is fighting for her life following a violent brawl captured on camera outside a school in Missouri.

Kaylee Gain, a Hazelwood East High School student, was involved in a fight that happened March 8 before 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of Norgate Drive and Claudine Drive, KMOV reported. When officers arrived, they found her suffering from a severe head injury.

A viral video shows a girl allegedly slamming Gain’s head into the ground several times.

Her family shared on the GoFundMe page that she was left convulsing on the ground before EMTs arrived on the scene. They also shared that she has major brain bleeding and swelling.

“We will not know the extent of the brain damage that has occurred until she wakes up,” an update said on the page, “but the path to recovery will be extremely hard on the family, not only mentally but financially.”

Gain is in critical condition, but her family said she’s “fighting hard to stay alive and heal but this is only the beginning of a very uphill battle.”

KMOV also reported that a 15-year-old suspect was arrested and is currently being held by St. Louis County Family Court on assault charges.

The identity of the suspect will not be disclosed because they are a minor.

So far, the family has raised $330,000.
