ST. LOUIS (KMOV/Gray News) – The family of a 16-year-old girl who was critically injured in a fight near her Missouri high school on March 8 said she has not regained consciousness.

The family of Kaylee Gain released a statement Monday through a lawyer.

The statement said Gain suffered a fractured skull, brain bleeding, and is still unconscious after the fight.

The family also said her prognosis for recovery cannot be determined until she regains consciousness.

The violent brawl on March 8 was caught on camera. The video shows a girl allegedly slamming Gain’s head into the ground several times.

When officers arrived, they found Gain suffering from a severe head injury.

The family’s statement also mentions that a GoFundMe page created by family friend Sarah Hall, and a separate page created by Kaylee’s cousin Hayden Gain are legitimate and helping the family.

According to a GoFundMe page, Gain is “fighting hard to stay alive and heal but this is only the beginning of a very uphill battle.”

The family is also asking for the community to denounce violence, particularly teen violence, and ask for there to be no retaliation against anyone involved in the beating of their daughter.

A 15-year-old suspect has been charged in juvenile court. The identity of the suspect will not be disclosed because they are a minor.
