80-year-old woman shot, killed while lying on the couch, police say

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT/Gray News) - An 80-year-old woman was shot and killed while she was lying on the couch, according to Mississippi authorities.

Jackson Police said the shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. Monday in the 3800 block of Nichols Boulevard, WLBT reported.

Authorities said Annie Peoples was inside of her home lying on the couch when she was killed.

WLBT reported that police believe that the suspected shooters were trying to target someone else who was supposed to be at the home, but wasn’t.

Police have a person of interest, but an arrest has not been made as of Tuesday afternoon.
