SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (KPHO/Gray News) - Former NFL player Terrell Suggs has been arrested on assault charges in Arizona.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, Suggs, 41, was arrested on charges of threatening and disorderly conduct involving weapons from an incident on March 10.

Authorities said Suggs was arrested after he was involved in an argument that ended with him pulling out a gun at a Starbucks in north Scottsdale.

Suggs made his initial court appearance this week where authorities described him as being the instigator that day in a road rage incident.

In court documents, investigators said the argument started over whether Suggs had backed into another person’s vehicle while at the Starbucks drive-thru.

The person in the drive-thru reportedly approached Suggs, and the pair began to fight before they eventually got back into their cars and placed their coffee orders.

However, the argument continued, and both began to swear at each other. Detectives said Suggs eventually pulled out a gun but never pointed it at the person.

Authorities said the person involved in the incident with Suggs reported it to them after leaving the Starbucks.

A Maricopa County judge has ordered Suggs on supervised release with his next court date scheduled for April 25.

Suggs is a two-time Super Bowl champion, winning Super Bowl XLVII with the Baltimore Ravens and Super Bowl LIV with the Kansas City Chiefs. He was also a two-time All-Pro and was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2011.
