Rain & Thunderstorms Tomorrow; Cooler by Midweek
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) -
Tonight, those changes really start to take shape with increasing cloud coverage and those temperatures remaining on the warmer side. We are going to not drop below the 50 degree mark tonight in town throughout the overnight hours. Tomorrow, rain and then thunderstorms are likely throughout the day with the possibility of some of those storms becoming severe. The storm prediction center puts Rapid City under a level 1 out of 5 marginal risk. A slight risk, level 2 out of 5 is on the SD Plains where the strongest of the storms will be tomorrow afternoon and evening. Futurecast shows that we are going to see those storms increase into the afternoon with heavy rain and thunderstorms likely. Rain continues Tuesday with widespread rain likely throughout the morning hours. Wednesday morning, another round of moisture moves in with the chance for snow showers in NE Wyoming. Accumulations are looking to be minimal. Overnight we are going to see temperatures remain in the 50s across the entire area for a very mild feel to the air. We also welcome our next system with increasing cloud coverage. Tomorrow, partly cloudy skies in the morning allows us to warm up into the 70s for almost everyone with storms and rain showers starting to infiltrate the forecast by the afternoon and evening. The next three days shows our system sticking around through the midweek with temperatures getting cooler. Rapid City also sees the cooler temperatures during and after this system. 40s likely from Wednesday onward.
