Man pleads guilty to second-degree manslaughter in garage stabbing

A man accused of murder was back in court Monday.

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - A Rapid City man plead guilty to second-degree manslaughter Monday.

Antoine Bissonette, 43, pleaded guilty to the killing of Andrew Bear Robe, 44, in March 2021.

Bear Robe was found dead in the garage of a home in the 900 block of North Seventh Street in Rapid City

Bissonette was originally charged with second-degree murder, but on Monday pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter.

In court, Bisonette said, “I had no intent to kill him. I was only trying to protect myself which resulted in his untimely death.”

Bissonette faces up to ten years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for June 3.
