RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) -

Some areas are in a drought right now and the upcoming moisture is looking to help out with those conditions. We are seeing NE Wyoming in the Moderate Drought area for the most part and the rain this week is looking to help us out. NE Wyoming is going to get the short end of the stick with less than an inch of rain likely but the highest amounts will likely be into the Black Hills with up to 2 inches possible in and around the area. Those storms could pack a punch with a small portion of the area being put into the level 1 out of 5 marginal risk. Some small hail is possible if some of these storms get strong enough. They start to kick up into the afternoon and evening. Futurecast shows that the storms will probably start to fire up around the 2 to 3 oclock hour. Rain is likely staying around the area through Friday and a few of the heavier bands of storms could see some rumbles of thunder. Rain sticks around Saturday too. Overnight tonight, we are going to see those temperatures remain mild with calmer conditions. 40s and 50s are likely tonight with partly cloudy skies. Tomorrow, we start off partly cloudy and then storms start to fire up into the afternoon and a few could be severe. Temperatures make it up to the 70s in much of the area but a few spots in the 60s mainly in the Black Hills. The next three days in NE Wyoming and the Northern Hills shows that rain is sticking around through the first half of the weekend with temperatures taking a fall into the 40s in Gillette, Sheridan, and Deadwood by Saturday. Rapid City seeing the 40s return for the entire weekend with rain lasting through Sunday. Temperatures make a rebound into the week next week with 70s likely by the middle of the week.
