‘Will not be tolerated’: Motorcyclist has license suspended after driving 180 mph on interstate
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV/Gray News) - A motorcycle rider in Colorado has had his license suspended after a viral video reportedly showed him driving at reckless speeds while traveling to Denver.
Rendon Dietzmann, 32, was sentenced in a Colorado courtroom on Tuesday after agreeing to a plea deal regarding the several charges he was facing.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, Dietzmann took a video of himself last September showing him making the roughly 50-mile trip between Colorado Springs to Denver in just 20 minutes on Interstate 25.
Authorities said the 32-year-old was driving as fast as 180 mph while weaving in and out of traffic.
Law enforcement officials said the rider’s actions would not go unpunished.
“Illegal and reckless driving behavior will not be tolerated in Colorado,” Sergeant Troy Kessler said. “We care too much for those traveling on our roadways to ignore the blatant disregard for the safety of others.”
Dietzmann was sentenced to 14 days in jail, and given a fine of at least $1,000 with 12 points added to his license, meaning the 32-year-old would have his license suspended in Colorado due to points.
The judge credited Dietzmann, who was taken into police custody earlier this year, with already serving the 14-day sentence.
