Illegally altered shotgun seized after drive-by shooting suspects arrested
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Reported gunshots were fired from a White Jeep Wrangler late evening on April 30. Police were called to the 1200 block of Atlas Street, and noted the Jeep matched the description of a vehicle reported stolen earlier in the week.
A short time later, police located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle driving near the intersection of E. Van Buren Street and Haines Avenue. The police initiated a traffic stop, but the Jeep did not stop. An officer successfully deployed spike strips as the vehicle headed westbound on E. Monroe Street. The Jeep stopped in the area of West Boulevard and South Street.
The Jeep’s occupants were ordered out of the vehicle. The driver was identified as Jeremy Highhorse, 20, of Rapid City, and the two passengers were identified as Arlen Blackburn, 19, of Rapid City, and Queana Bissonette, 21, of Rapid City.
Police reportedly confirmed the Jeep was the same vehicle reported stolen, and a search of the Jeep allegedly turned up a handgun, and an illegally altered shotgun.
Highhorse was arrested for aggravated eluding and possession of a stolen vehicle. Blackburn was arrested for the discharge of a firearm from a moving vehicle, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, and a Pennington County warrant. Blackburn was taken into custody on a parole hold.
All three were transported to the Pennington County Jail.
