RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - High winds will continue through the afternoon. High Wind Warnings are in effect for western and northwestern South Dakota as well as parts of northeast Wyoming and southeastern Montana. Gusts to 55 mph and higher are likely, making for difficult crosswind travel.

Snow will decrease over the Black Hills this afternoon. Higher elevation roads are still slushy, as well as roads in Crook County, Wyoming.

The low pressure area responsible for today’s wind and snow will weaken and move southeast tomorrow and Thursday. This will increase the chance for rain east of the Hills that has been in the downslope precipitation-free zone today. More snow showers will be possible in the Hills and NE Wyoming tonight and again Wednesday night.

By the weekend, warmer air returns as high pressure builds in from the west.
