(InvestigateTV) — The Appalachian Trail, also called the AT, is a hiking trail on the East Coast that extends almost 2,200 miles between Georgia and Maine.

The route passes through 14 states, and the climb is equivalent to hiking Mt. Everest 16 times.

Hikers say it takes approximately five million steps to complete and attempt to hike.

The entire Appalachian Trail became a life-changing experience for a woman from North Carolina. Jayne Fought was hiking the trail when she said she didn’t feel quite right.

Reporter Claire Kopsky shows us how a heartbreaking diagnosis didn’t stop her from reaching her ultimate goal.
