RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - The man arrested over the weekend for first-degree murder and first-degree robbery did not attend his scheduled initial appearance in court today.

Cole Younger, 35, was unable to attend his initial appearance because of what officials called “substance use”. It is unclear what substance was used or when. Younger is accused of the murder of 41-year-old Brandi Snowfly, who police say was found Sunday in a room at the Rodeway Inn on North LaCrosse Street with lacerations to her neck.

Younger was arrested after a report of a rideshare driver who said someone took out a knife and told the driver to get out of the car at the Circle K on Cambell Street. Police say they determined Younger entered the hotel with Snowfly.

As of now, Younger is set to be back in court tomorrow.
