Family Food Truck Night returns to Rapid City
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Tuesday nights are about to get a little tastier at Canyon Lake Park. The annual Family Food Truck Night is starting up on Tuesday night with some changes.
About seven years ago organizer Jesse Lee came up with the idea of a food truck night to support the small businesses in town that run them and give families something to do. Since then, the night has grown from the five food trucks it started as, to over 15 regular trucks with special guests some weeks.
The trucks carry a wide variety of options from burgers to popcorn and everything in between so no one should go hungry if you attend.
Every year the Rapid City Public Library makes an appearance but this year they’re bringing a truck of their own. The Rapid City Book Mobile will also be at Family Food Truck Night every Tuesday giving children the chance to read and check out books while enjoying some food and Canyon Lake Park. You may be wondering, why Tuesday? Well, Lee has an answer for you.
“Nobody does anything on the weekdays, it’s always weekends it’s always come out on the weekend, come out on the weekend well you go all week long without getting to do anything fun so why not put a cool activity in the middle of the week to break up your week as well,” Lee said.
Family Food Truck Night starts Tuesday at 5 p.m. and runs every following Tuesday until September 24.
