‘It’s more than just a dress’: High school senior designs prom dress inspired by ‘The Princess and the Frog’
IRONDALE, Ala. (WBRC/Gray News) - A high school senior in Alabama personally designed her prom dress inspired by one of her favorite Disney princesses.
Layla Hildreth, a Shades Valley High School student, has always been creative. However, this year, she made her fairytale dreams come true by embodying Princess Tiana this year for prom.
“It’s more than just the dress,” Hildreth said. “She was a big star in her moments; she was very inspirational.”
Hildreth said she was inspired by Princess Tiana’s work ethic, and how she never lost sight of her dreams, WBRC reported.
“The way that she carried herself, the way that she never gave up, and I feel like the dress really shows how big of a person she is,” she said.
“Don’t let anybody tell you what you can and cannot do, because there were plenty of times when people were like, ‘Oh you want to do this?’ and I was like ‘Yeah, this is what I’m going to do and I’m going to make it,’” she said.
After putting so much work into making her dreams come true, she feels she has become a princess in her own right.
Hildreth will attend Georgia State University in the fall. She plans to continue her creative renaissance there.
