RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Monument Health experienced a brief outage Monday, impacting phones, MyChart, and other hospital software.

Many patients experienced delayed or canceled appointments due to the outage. Since Monument Health heavily relies on technology there were adjustments, but patient care was not impacted.

“Thankfully, most of the most critical operations between patients and physicians happen in person, so from that perspective, it was probably more of a nuisance to patients, but we also were able to keep track of, you know, who had appointments, who had messaged us, and so no data was lost,” said Patrick Woodard, chief health care information officer at Monument Health.

Woodard said the issue was identified and the outage was resolved.
