Update on Memorial Park Thursday night fatal shooting

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - The Rapid City Police Department is still investigating a fatal shooting that happened in Memorial Park last Thursday night.

Authorities say they were called to the area at about 10 p.m. last Thursday and found 18-year-old Wanbli Taylor Janis had been shot.

Janis was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police say the shooting happened in the Legacy Commons area between the playgrounds after an interaction between two groups of people.

RCPD public information officer Brendyn Medina said today there’s no new information at this point, but they’re still looking for the public’s help to find out what happened.
