Hot with afternoon storms possible to begin the weekend
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Plenty of sunshine is expected into the middle of the day Saturday. High temperatures will soar to 90° in Rapid City for the first time this year. Showers and thunderstorms will develop into the afternoon and early evening hours. Some storms may be strong to severe with hail and wind as the primary threats.
Father’s Day will be a bit more comfortable as high temperatures will be in the 70s for much of the area. Expect a windy start to the day with gusts up to 45 mph possible at times. Winds will gradually weaken into the afternoon with gusts under 30 mph expected. Skies will be partly cloudy through the day, but by Sunday evening and overnight, showers and thunderstorms will develop across western South Dakota - mainly around the Black Hills and along I-90 eastward.
Clouds will stick around Monday and highs will fall into the 60s. A few showers and thunderstorms will be possible into the day. Tuesday will be partly cloudy and breezy with highs in the 60s to low 70s.
Highs will range from the 60s to the 70s for the rest of next week with an isolated shower or storm possible Wednesday through Friday.
