Meade and Lawrence Counties will recount votes from the primary elections
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Unofficial election results are in, and in the Lawrence County Commissioner at Large race the margin of the win was less than two percent which allows candidates from these races to petition for a recount, and Erica Douglas has done that. Additionally, the race for the Committeewoman for Precinct 1 was won by only 4 votes.
In Meade County, the treasurer’s race is headed to a recount as well. Robin Harrison Korth finished 44 votes behind Robin Shrake in the primary.
Meade County Auditor, Rhea Crane, said in a statement that recounts are not common. The last recount there was in 2022. Before that, it had been over 20 years since a candidate petitioned for a recount.
Meade and Lawrence Counties’ recounts are set for Monday, June 24th with the results out the following day.
