Young boy who was missing for several hours found dead in backyard pool
CLEBURNE COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC/Gray News) - A 4-year-old boy who was reported missing last Saturday was found dead in a backyard swimming pool, according to police.
The Ranburne Police Department says they received a call around 6 p.m. Saturday that a 4-year-old child was missing from his home in the area of County Road 49 and County Road 111.
When police arrived, they learned the child went missing while playing in the yard.
Police, joined by several neighbors and other volunteers, began searching the neighborhood for the child.
The Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office and other local law enforcement agencies from Carroll County Georgia arrived at the scene along with Ranburne Fire, Macedonia Fire, and the Carroll County Georgia dive team to search the area.
After several hours of searching, the child was found dead in a backyard pool, according to Ranburne Police Department Chief Barry Nolen.
The Cleburne County Coroner’s Office identified the child as 4-year-old DJ Jarrell, of Ranburne.
No further details were immediately released.
