Man accused of 1st degree murder denied bond

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - The man accused of first-degree murder near the Cornerstone Rescue Mission made his first appearance in court Friday.

CONTEXT: UPDATE: Arrest made in homicide near Cornerstone Rescue Mission

Michael Flores Jr., 32, of Rapid City appeared in court for the first time via live stream from Pennington County Jail.

The state argued for no bond as Flores is already on parole for assaulting law enforcement and possession of a controlled substance. They also claimed he was a flight risk. Judge Sarah Morrison agreed with the state and denied bond, Flores will remain in jail.

Flores’ next court date has not been set.
