RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Today will be sunny and hot as a ridge of high pressure passes overhead. Look for highs in the 90s for most places, with a few spots in southwest South Dakota at or about 100 degrees.

A trough will bring isolated thunderstorms to the area late this afternoon and evening. Strong, gusty winds will accompany the storms, but they will be few and far between.

Somewhat lower temperatures can be expected Tuesday and Wednesday with light easterly winds, but hot 90s return Thursday.

A well-defined upper level disturbance will bring scattered thunderstorms Thursday afternoon. There will be a risk of severe storms with that system. In its wake, comfortable air returns Friday into the last weekend of June.
