Parents say they pulled drywall off their 3-year-old son after a tree crashed into their home
WINDSOR, Conn. (WFSB/Gray News) – A tree came down onto a home in Connecticut during storms late Wednesday night.
The parents said they were putting their 3-year-old son to bed when they saw the ceiling fall on top of the child.
The parents said the massive tree came crashing down through their roof after 10:15 p.m., and drywall landed on the boy. The child started crying but was not hurt.
“We were going to bed, and I heard a loud boom, and then I heard glass crash, and then I heard my son cry, and I went into his room and took the ceiling that was on him off of him, and ran downstairs to our lower level,” said Shai Conniff, the homeowner.
No injuries were reported. The family said their two dogs were also OK.
However, they described what happened as a very close call.
Due to the size of the tree, officials said it was going to take a while to get it cleared and have the house restored.
The parents said in the meantime, they plan to stay with family.
