Severe thunderstorms possible today.
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - An active day of weather can be expected as an upper level trough, a dry line and cold front interact with a hot, moist and unstable airmass. There is an Enhanced Risk of severe thunderstorms today. Any storm that forms may contain large hail and damaging straight-line winds. Isolated tornadoes are possible in northwest through west-central South Dakota. Not everyone will experience severe weather today, but it is a threat.
A cold front will bring much cooler temperatures Friday and Saturday. There will be a lingering chance of thundershowers around the Hills and southwest South Dakota on Friday. Saturday will be sunny.
Hot, unstable air races back into western South Dakota Sunday. Strong to severe storms will be possible around the Hills Sunday afternoon. Highs are back in the lower 90s on Sunday.
