Biden press conference on his mental fitness
WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - President Joe Biden held his first solo press conference Saturday in nearly eight months.
Viewers concluded Biden performed better than he did at the debate, but many were unconvinced of his fitness for office. Here’s what you need to know.
Number 1: He is not dropping out of the presidential race. Thursday night he was asked multiple times by reporters about the growing chorus asking him to step aside, but he stuck to the message that he still has work left to do that can only be done if he’s in the Oval Office.
Number 2: After the press conference, three additional Democratic members of Congress called on the President to step aside. That number now stands at 17. With five months until the election and one month until the Democratic National Convention, it is clear the Democratic ship is taking on water, with more expected to bail on Biden.
Finally, a major slip-up. Biden mistitled the former President and his presidential opponent as “Vice President Trump”. Republicans pounced on the gaff, but the President said he has no plans to slow down. Friday he travels to Michigan, then Austin, Texas, and Las Vegas in the next week.
