Trump makes big entrance the first night of the 2024 Republican National Convention
WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - The big mystery heading into Monday’s first day of the RNC was who former President Donald Trump would choose as his running mate. Once Ohio Senator J.D. Vance was officially nominated, the RNC focused on their slogan of “Make America Wealthy Again.”
“Senator J.D. Vance has the overwhelming support of this convention to be the next vice president of the United States,” the convention announced.
The Republican Ticket for the 2024 presidential election is set, and Donald Trump is their official candidate for President. As Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) said pledging delegates, “We proudly cast our 50 delegates from the state of Alabama for the next president of the United States. Donald J. Trump.”
With the official nominations cemented, the RNC turned toward the economy.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) said the party wanted “an American government that serves the interests not of the wealthy, the globalists, or the powerful few, but of all hardworking Americans is within our grasp.”
Republicans hope to convince voters Donald Trump is better for Americans’ wallets than Joe Biden. “Democrats have forgotten American families. They have abandoned the hardworking middle class. But with President Trump and Republicans, those forgotten Americans are forgotten no more,” said Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI).
The biggest moment of the night was not a speech but Donald Trump arriving toward the end of the night with a bandage over his ear just two days after surviving an assassination attempt.
Tuesday’s RNC theme will be “Make America Safe Again” and the party is expected to focus on crime rates and law enforcement.
