WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - Donald Trump’s former primary opponents joined his team during night two at the Republican National Convention, as Republicans hope to take back the White House in 2024.

The official theme on night two at the RNC was “Make America Safe Once Again.” Republicans focused on crime, law enforcement and securing the southern U.S. border.

“We have a president that refuses to follow the law and orders the border patrol to release people here illegally. That needs to change,” said Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).

But the unofficial theme, especially from Donald Trump’s former primary foes, was unity. Heading into day two of the RNC, the buzz was Donald Trump’s surprise appearance with a bandage over his ear.

“He’s got more fight in him than anyone I’ve ever seen in my entire life. I mean he gets off the floor bleeding. And then he puts his fist in the air and says fight, fight, fight,” said Eric Trump, son of former President Trump.

Former Republican hopeful Nikki Haley, who reversed course from opposing Trump during the primaries and pledged her delegates to the GOP nominee, fully backed the Republican candidate.

“Donald Trump has my strong endorsement, period,” said Haley.

Unity also extended to one of Trump’s biggest former rivals in Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who championed Trump’s stamina compared to President Joe Biden.

“We need a commander in chief who can lead 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. America can not afford four more years of a weekend at Bernie’s presidency,” he said.

Newly minted Vice Presidential candidate J.D. Vance will give a speech Wednesday, as the third night of the convention is expected to focus on foreign policy.
