WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - President Joe Biden’s signature is the last one needed to make the All American Flag Act law.

As of right now, the government is only legally required to purchase flags that contain just 50% American-made goods.

“Congress has finally taken care of this, so that flags flow over federal facilities should be entirely — not 50% — 100% made in this country,” Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) said.

Brown added he has been fighting Presidents from both parties to make sure American flags purchased by the government support Americans — especially when tax dollars are involved. Senators Joe Manchin, Susan Collins and Gary Peters helped with the effort.

“This says a couple of things. It says our country stands with workers,” Brown said. He went on, “Our government stands with workers. It’s about time. Too many politicians and too many corporations have moved jobs offshore. This isn’t a huge number of jobs but it’s symbolism because it’s American jobs.”
