Woman sent eerie text messages to friend before she was allegedly killed by man she met on Snapchat
EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV/Gray News) - An 18-year-old woman from Colorado sent eerie text messages to her best friend before she was allegedly killed by a man she met on Snapchat.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office confirmed they received a call around 3 a.m. to conduct a death investigation.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found Annabelle Margaret Floren-Wyant dead.
The investigation started when Floren-Wyant’s friend called 911 stating he couldn’t get ahold of her.
The friend told deputies she had visited a home to meet with 26-year-old Jorge Meza Alarcon Jr., to “collect money” from one of her subscribers, KKTV reported.
While at the home, Floren-Wyant texted her friend that Alarcon was “weird” and requested that he check on her periodically via text message or phone call.
When the friend couldn’t reach Floren-Wyant, he called 911.
When deputies arrived, she was found inside the suspect’s bedroom with blood coming from her ear.
According to documents obtained by KKTV, Alarcon was found about three miles from the home. He had injuries to his face and had called 911 claiming someone had assaulted him.
Alarcon told investigators the victim had agreed to meet up to exchange money for sex via Snapchat.
Alarcon initially said Floren-Wyant asked for the money and when he turned to get it, he was hit in the head with a cell phone. He said he blacked out and later regained consciousness while walking in a street.
Later in the interview, Alarcon explained Floren-Wyant had previously threatened him and was uneasy about the encounter due to a vehicle remaining outside idling, and her texting someone throughout the encounter.
He said he got scared believing there was some type of plan to attack him, so he instantly went to a leglock but transitioned to a ‘D’arce’ choke hold which he demonstrated on the floor of the interview room.
He then says he got off her, opened the fence and went to his dad’s truck.
Alarcon was asked if he knew Floren-Wyant was dead when he left the room and he stated “without checking her pulse...”
He was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
According to online court records, Alarcon is due in court on Aug. 8 for a first appearance.
