WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - Wednesday at the Democratic National Convention was themed a “A Fight for Our Freedoms”, capped off with an impassioned speech from Governor Tim Walz, Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate. Walz officially accepted the nomination from his party and introduced himself once again to the nation.

“It’s the honor of my life to accept your nomination for vice president of the United States,” said Walz.

Just one month ago, Walz’s sole focus was on the legislature in St. Paul, MN. Now, he has been thrust into the national spotlight.

“Never underestimate a public school teacher,” said Walz.

A teacher, football coach, and veteran turned politician, Walz played up his midwestern roots as the Democrats seek to shore up support along their crucial “Blue Wall”. The governor attacked the opposing ticket throughout his speech, criticizing their views on abortion, the economy, and social issues. Then he finished his speech praising his running mate as the solution to this nation’s problems.

“Kamala Harris is tough. Kamala Harris is experienced. And Kamala Harris is ready,” said Walz.

Former President Bill Clinton took the stage ahead of Walz Wednesday night, endorsing this next generation of Democrats.

“I’m glad that we’ve got a championship winning coach on our team,” said President Clinton.

Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton remain popular figures in the party. Like the Obamas Tuesday night, both warned of the danger they believe Donald Trump poses to Democracy.

“Kamala Harris is the only candidate in this race with the vision, the experience, the temperament, the will, and yes—the sheer joy—to get something done,” said President Clinton.

Thursday is the final day of the DNC, the day many in this building have been waiting for. A new generation will officially take over with Vice President Kamala Harris set to accept the party’s nomination.
