Missing child with autism found dead in pond
CANTON, Miss. (WLBT/Gray News) - A missing child with autism was found dead in a pond.
Kaleb Jamison was missing for nearly 12 hours before emergency crews found him in a nearby retention pond.
“It is disturbing for a child to get out and get away and the parents don’t know where they are,” Canton Police Chief Otha Brown said.
Kaleb went missing from his apartment around 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday.
Police said when they arrived, Kaleb’s father told them that his son was autistic and had somehow walked out the door.
A neighbor’s Ring doorbell camera caught the 4-year-old wearing a light blue shirt and Pull-Ups walking alone in the complex.
Police called additional law enforcement agencies to help them find Kaleb. They went door to door and walked in the woods to find the boy.
Kaleb was found nearly 12 hours later in a retention pond.
Brown thanked volunteers who joined the search for Kaleb.
Community members placed flowers and balloons to honor Kaleb.
