(Gray News) – Country music superstar Morgan Wallen donated $500,000 to the American Red Cross to help victims recover from damage caused by Hurricane Helene.

Wallen made the donation through the Morgan Wallen Foundation and shared a statement on his Instagram story Sept. 30.

He wrote, “My family in East Tennessee are safe but I know many are absolutely devastated there and in multiple states. It is going to take a monumental effort and I am in contact with my team and others working on ways I can help.”

As of Tuesday, the death toll from the hurricane has reached more than 150, the Associated Press reported.

Helene is one of the deadliest hurricanes to hit the mainland United States in the past 50 years, according to CNN.
