8-year-old killed in ATV crash hours after dad buys vehicle, police say

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3/Gray News) – An 8-year-old girl died Thursday night when an all-terrain vehicle she was riding crashed into a utility pole Thursday night.
Police in Springfield, Missouri said the girl’s father was driving the ATV at the time of the accident.
According to authorities, relatives took the girl to the hospital, where she later died. Her dad was injured in the crash but is expected to recover.
A police lieutenant said the father had just bought the ATV hours before the accident.
The father was not impaired, according to officials.
