Veteran actor from ‘Ryan’s Hope,’ ‘General Hospital’ dies
(Gray News) - Ron Hale, a fixture on long-running soaps including “Ryan’s Hope” and “General Hospital,” has died at age 78.
His death was reported in media outlets such as People and Entertainment Weekly.
Hale died on Aug. 27, an obituary states. A cause of death wasn’t listed.
He was born as Ronald Hale Thigpen in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Jan. 2, 1946, and in addition to soaps appeared in the Academy Award-winning 1976 film “All the President’s Men” as Watergate burglar Frank Sturgis, according to his IMDb listing.
Hale appeared on ABC’s “Ryan’s Hope” in the role of Dr. Roger Coleridge for 909 episodes from 1975 until the end of the show in 1989.
He performed the role of Mike Corbin in “General Hospital” from 1995 to 2010, as well as the soap’s spinoff “Port Charles” from 1997 to 2000.
The “General Hospital” X account paid tribute to the actor, saying, “The entire General Hospital Family is saddened to hear of Ron Hale’s passing. We would like to extend our condolences to his loved ones during this difficult time. He was an incredible actor and an unforgettable colleague. May he rest in peace.”
Hale is survived by his nieces and nephews, his obituary said.
