JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC/Gray News) - A 70-year-old woman was killed in a crash that allegedly stemmed from a police chase in Alabama.

The crash happened Monday on Interstate 59 near the 108-mile marker in Jefferson County.

The Jefferson County coroner’s office identified the woman as 70-year-old Angela Strickland Lockhart, of Birmingham.

The coroner says Lockhart’s car was hit head-on by the driver of another vehicle who was running from Bessemer police.

It’s unknown why the driver was fleeing from police.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating the crash.
