GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB/Gray News) - A longtime restaurant worker is retiring after spending nearly four decades serving customers their favorite burgers.

Sighle Williams has been working at Mac’s Drive-Thru for 37 years, and Friday was her last day.

The Gainesville community crowded Mac’s to celebrate Williams’ retirement and help give her an epic sendoff.

Roads surrounding the restaurant were packed as countless cars lined up with customers to give their orders and say their goodbyes to one of their favorite Mac’s workers.

Patrons described Williams as a local legend and someone who will be missed greatly at the restaurant.

Williams said she was overwhelmed to see the outpouring of support to celebrate her retirement.

“I’m just so overwhelmed, and I love everybody. I appreciate through the years of seeing people, and I’m just so thankful,” she said.

Mac’s owner Ron Defilippo announced that all proceeds from Friday would also go to Williams to help her kick off her retirement.
