Woman allegedly drove 110 mph with 7-year-old girl in car

CLAY COUNTY, Minn. (KVLY/Gray News) - A woman is facing fleeing and child endangerment charges after police said she was caught driving more than 100 mph through a Minnesota county.

Kathryn Joanna Duray of Saint Francis, Minnesota, is charged with felony fleeing in a motor vehicle and child endangerment, which is a gross misdemeanor.

According to court records, an officer with the Hawley Police Department clocked a vehicle going 110 mph in a 50 mph zone around 11 p.m. Oct. 4. The officer turned on his emergency lights and sirens and followed the car west on Highway 10.

Court records said the officer followed Duray for 13 miles. Deputies with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office clocked the car going 108-109 mph.

“At this point, three patrol vehicles were attempting to stop the vehicle, all with lights and sirens engaged,” court documents stated.

Stop sticks were deployed by Glyndon Police, and Duray’s car stopped near the 300 block of State Street in Glyndon. Duray was identified as the driver, and officers said a 7-year-old girl was also in the car.

According to court records, Duray claimed she did not see law enforcement and said she would never run from law enforcement.

“The defendant stated that she was trying to get to a hotel room in Fargo to be safe from people who were trying to get her or her phone. The defendant also made other statements that she needed to make phone calls to Jesus Christ,” officers wrote in court records.

Duray appeared in Clay County Court on Monday, where a judge set bail at $6,000 without conditions or $2,000 with conditions. She is currently out of jail and has her next court appearance on Tuesday.
