MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC/Gray News) - A Memphis hairdresser is accused of holding a pair of scissors near the face of a customer after demanding an extra payment of $50, authorities said.

On September 13, a woman went to Luv My Hair Salon for a hair appointment and paid a $50 deposit, WMC reported.

The woman also said she paid the hairdresser $410 through Zelle at the salon.

Toward the end of the appointment, 31-year-old Mychelle Ray allegedly demanded that her customer pay an extra $50.

The client told police that Ray “became irate and began cursing and yelling at her” for questioning the additional fee.

Ray allegedly threatened to hurt the woman, saying, “Don’t move, because I got these scissors next to your face."

The victim told police that Ray refused to allow her to leave the salon.

Instead, Ray allegedly locked the door and blocked the woman’s way out, saying, “B****, you not going nowhere until you pay me.”

The client then called police for help.

It was only after dispatch told Ray that she was committing a crime by not letting her customer leave that she opened the door.

The victim told officers that “the ordeal caused her to be in fear for her life.”

Ray was charged with aggravated assault and false imprisonment.

Ray was booked into the Shelby County Jail on Wednesday.

She’s since been released on a $7,500 bond.
