Scattered showers and mostly cloudy skies are likely as we head into the overnight hours with temperatures making it into the 40s in Rapid City and throughout all of the area. Tomorrow, rain showers begin to taper off as we head into the late morning and we are just left with cloudy skies by lunchtime. We start to clear out by the afternoon and evening with temperatures making it into the 60s by the afternoon for a second straight day in a row. After rain showers pass through tomorrow morning, it will be a good time to mow the grass tomorrow evening with those conditions remaining through the first half of the weekend. Some more storms are possible on Sunday with the morning having fair conditions with the afternoon having poor conditions. Good conditions are likely again on Monday. Futurecast is showing the showers developing over the Black Hills and into the SD Plains. Those get out of there by the afternoon and evening and we start to clear out. Those clear skies continue until Sunday. Overnight temperatures start to drop into the 40s for almost all of the area with a few spots managing to get into the 30s. A few spots on the Plains could see the lower 50s tonight. Scattered showers develop after midnight and for those who don't see the showers, mostly cloudy skies start to take over. Temperatures tomorrow stay in the 60s for almost everyone by the afternoon for another great feel to the air. Showers in the morning will start to clear out by the late morning and then sunshine takes over for the afternoon and evening. The next three days shows that we are going to see the moisture for both tonight and Sunday generally stay in the Northern Hills and points to the east. Temperatures make it to the 70s for the weekend. Rapid City could even see the 80s on Sunday and Monday. Temperatures fall back to normal as we dry out and sunshine returns for the middle of next week.

Tonight, the rain and snow begins to pick up once again with temperatures dropping to near freezing tonight in parts of the region. Tomorrow, we start off with a mix of rain and snow and then we transition over to all rain in Rapid City. NE Wyoming and the Northern Hills will likely see snow throughout the morning and early afternoon. Futurecast is showing the rain and snow overnight tonight linger into the day tomorrow. We start to see clearing early on Tuesday, but clouds increase as we head into the afternoon and evening. We still have winter weather alerts across a lot of the area. Winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories expire throughout the day tomorrow where the highest elevations could see another 3 to 7 inches of snowfall are possible. The lower elevations could see another 1 to 4 inches of snowfall. Blowing snow is possible across the region as winds pick back up during the day tomorrow. This could make travel very difficult. Overnight tonight, we are going to see temperatures drop to near freezing across much of the region. Rain and snow increase in intensity again after midnight. Winds calm down overnight, but they increase again into the late morning hours. Rain and snow continue tomorrow. The Plains will see the rain while the Hills and NE Wyoming will see mainly all snow once again throughout the day tomorrow. 40s in Western South Dakota and 30s in NE Wyoming are likely. The next three days shows a warmup into the middle of the week with Gillette and Deadwood seeing a slower increase with a heavier snow pack. Rapid City seeing a warm up for the week, ending the week with 70s possible both Friday and Saturday.

Overnight tonight, temperatures will start to drop and we will be cold once again. Mostly clear skies allow for temperatures to get into the low teens and maybe even upper single digits. Tomorrow, warmer high temperatures take over with Rapid City seeing highs near 45 degrees. Partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies will be prevalent. Futurecast is showing that we are going to see a couple of waves of cloud coverage but we will still see some sunshine over the course of the next 72 hours. Overnight tonight, temperatures drop into the teens and single digits with a few spots on the SD Plains even getting back to below zero temperatures. Tomorrow, the snow pack in NW SD and on the Plains will allow for temperatures to remain in the 30s, but much of the area will see temperatures climb into the 40s and possibly even the 50s. Partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies take over for a majority of the day tomorrow. The next three days in NE Wyoming and the Northern Black Hills start their warm up through Thursday with 60s in both Gillette and Sheridan but staying in the mid to upper 50s in Deadwood and Spearfish. Rapid City will likely see the 60s on Thursday before we are breezy and near average Friday. Our next system makes its approach by the weekend with rain and snow then snow possible Saturday through Monday. Sunshine returns by Tuesday of next week.

Tonight, skies will gradually clear throughout the night and we are left with clear skies after around 1 am. Clouds come back into the forecast for the day tomorrow, but that wont stop our temperatures from getting into the mid 60s. Partly cloudy skies start taking over by the afternoon. Futurecast shows that we are going to see those clouds really increase during the day Tuesday across the area before some moisture begins to engulf us. Rain transitioning over to a rain snow mix is likely during the day in NE Wyoming and the Northern Hills. Thursday morning, snow may fall in Rapid City. Looking ahead to next week we are looking to a return to a near average pattern. Overnight tonight, temperatures stay in the 30s for most with clouds beginning to decrease after midnight with a mild feel to the air. Those temperatures warm up again tomorrow as 50s and 60s are likely. Clouds start to reenter the region as our next system starts to approach, making for a partly cloudy end to Tuesday. The next three days in NE Wyoming and the Northern Hills shows that we are going to see temperatures start to drop with the chances for some rain and possibly even snow across the area. Rapid City also seeing that chance as we head into the middle of the week with temperatures remaining near average for the weekend as sunshine makes it’s return.

Downtown Rapid City has clear skies overhead and around the sky with temperatures dropping from our high today that got into the 40s. Low 40s and 30s are beginning to take over the map tonight with clear skies settling in almost everywhere. Radar is showing that clearing has taken shape over the course of the day and almost everyone is out of it tonight. Clear skies continue to be on tap for the overnight hours as temperatures get chilly once again. 20s in the forecast for Rapid City with clear skies all night long. Those clear skies turn completely sunny for the day tomorrow with temperatures warming up even warmer than what we saw today. Mid 50s are expected in Downtown Rapid City by the afternoon. Tomorrow also marks the start of Daylight Saving Time as we spring forward. This means you should set your clocks forward by one hour before you head to sleep Saturday night. We lose and hour of sleep. This is also your bi-annual reminder that this is a good time to check and replace your air filters and smoke detector batteries. Futurecast shows that sunshine is back in the forecast for the entire weekend which will keep almost everyone on the warmer side. A few clouds work their way into the forecast as we are starting off our week next week. We will have to wait one more night for the warmth as chilly conditions will take over tonight with temperatures getting into the upper teens and low to mid 20s. Clear skies tonight turn completely sunny by tomorrow morning and they stay that way the entire day. That sunshine allows us to warm up into the mid 50s for almost everyone with a few spots flirting with or even reaching the 60 degree mark. Sheridan might be one of those places. Sheridan is likely to see the 60s this entire weekend with Gillette not too far behind. Spearfish will also see the 60s this weekend while Deadwood stays in the 50s. Rapid City will make it into the 60s by the time we get to Sunday and its looking to stay that way through Monday. Wednesday and Thursday bring the possibility for some clouds and maybe even some rain.
