Alex Gaul joined the KMOV news team in January 2023. He comes to News 4 from Peoria, Illinois, where he reported for WEEK for two years.
While in Central Illinois, Alex reported on a wide range of topics for 25 News. He was first on the scene when four inmates broke out of a local jail, He covered several murder trials, uncovered fraud allegations at a local COVID testing lab and reported live at a massive grain bin explosion near downtown Peoria.
Alex is a proud graduate of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University. In Arizona, Alex was a photographer for KPNX, a reporter with KAET and a play-by-play announcer for Pac-12 Network Plus
Alex knew he wanted to be a news reporter at the age of five. He grew up in the suburbs of Chicago with a passion for journalism and the drive to tell stories to others.
When he is not reporting, you may find Alex traveling the country looking for a new local coffee shop. To date, he has been to over 30 of the 50 states in the U.S. His dream is to do the same across the world.
Alex loves sports of all kinds, including everything from baseball to cricket. He is a Chicago Cubs fan but has immense respect for the St. Louis Cardinals and their fans. He also supports the Green Bay Packers and Borussia Dortmund of the German Bundesliga.
Alex comes from a baseball-loving family. He has one high-school age brother, Hunter, and parents Linda and Jerry. He is thankful to his family and friends for encouraging him to work hard and to never give up on a good story.
