The chase began just before 9 a.m. on June 30, 2005, near 7th Street and Thunderbird. In the video, you can see the driver putting the public in danger by weaving in and out of rush-hour traffic.
At times, the suspect crossed the center line and faced down other drivers head-on. Then, the driver of the stolen truck took the chase to the freeways. A police helicopter followed down Loop 101, State Route 51, and finally, I-17. From there, the suspect made his way to Sky Harbor airport. Police cornered the man in an employee parking lot when the unthinkable happened.
