Jerry Askin
Anchor/Reporter
Jerry Askin rejoined the Action News 5 team in May of 2024 as a Midday Anchor and a solutions-based reporter.
His first stint at Action News 5 was from 2014 to 2018 where he worked as a General Assignment Reporter and fill-in anchor. He then moved to Orlando, FL where he worked as an Anchor and Reporter at WKMG for six years.
Before Action News 5, Askin worked in Tallahassee, FL and Chattanooga, TN as a reporter.
Jerry knows Memphis and brings with him a deep-rooted passion for storytelling.
The Georgia State University journalism grad also received his Master's degree in Communication and Leadership studies from Gonzaga University. In his spare time, he is an online adjunct communications professor and makes it his mission to give out a scholarship each year to deserving students interested in pursuing careers in Journalism.
You can catch Askin in-studio from 6-7 a.m., co-anchoring the Midday newscast and turning solutions-driven stories for our 6 p.m. viewers.
