Mason Kern

Having grown up in San Diego, California, Mason moved to central Nebraska to cover sports in the Tri-Cities for KSNB Local4 in July 2021. He was officially promoted to Sports Director in June 2023.

A summa cum laude graduate of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University, Mason was an established multimedia sports reporter and broadcaster in the Phoenix, Arizona, market. He served as the Deputy Editor for Sports Illustrated's Arizona Cardinals site, AllCardinals, while simultaneously serving as a multimedia journalist covering Arizona State football, basketball and recruiting for Sun Devil Source on the CBS Digital owned/operated 247Sports Network.

Mason was also the host of "The Smart Play” Radio Show that aired on KDUS AM 1060, an affiliate of SB Nation Radio in Phoenix, and spent time reporting on the Arizona Diamondbacks and Phoenix Suns as an extension of this show.

In June 2018, Mason was named among PHOENIX Magazine’s esteemed "40 Under 40." Just a few months prior to that, he was featured in Scottsdale’s UPTOWN magazine.

Mason began his journalism career during his sophomore year of high school in California and his passion for sports broadcasting led him to Local4.
