GPS jamming is part of Air Force exercise

If you are under the Air Force’s Powder River Training Complex and your car’s GPS system goes a little wonky, don’t sweat it. It is just an exercise.

B-1 bombers from the 28th Bomb Wing at Ellsworth Air Force Base will be involved in an exercise Oct. 16-18 over parts of the training complex, as well as a new temporary Rushmore Air Traffic Control Assigned Airspace.

This exercise includes GPS jamming each night from 9 to 11.

People living in the PRTC area can expect to see multiple types of aircraft; as well as hear sonic booms. Most of the activity will be from 10,000 to 20,000 feet above mean sea level.
